NJSBDC at NJCU Partners with African American Chamber of Commerce of NJ

The 麻豆传媒 Small Business Development Center (NJSBDC) at 麻豆传媒 (NJCU) has entered into a partnership with the African American Chamber of Commerce of 麻豆传媒 (AACCNJ) to launch the Small Business Bonding Readiness Assistance Program (SBBRAP). This program, comprised of educational workshops, will empower 麻豆传媒鈥檚 small, minority- and women-owned businesses to compete for state, county, municipal, agency or government contracts in the public sector.

鈥淚n the past 20 years, our Center has assisted more than 1500 women-owned businesses and more than 4000 minority-owned businesses,鈥 said Vid Bahadur, co-director of NJSBDC at NJCU. 鈥淭he NJSBDC at NJCU is dedicated to promoting growth and productivity for small businesses in the Hudson County.鈥

鈥淥ur Center鈥檚 partnership with AACCNJ on this program will provide great value and act as an excellent resource for small businesses in Hudson County and beyond,鈥 added Dr. Michael Edmondson, co-director of NJSBDC at NJCU and dean of Professional Education and Lifelong Learning (PELL).

Interested participants will have the opportunity to attend educational workshops throughout the state to learn more about the program and its resources. At these sessions, potential participants should expect to:

  • Learn more about bonding and its importance
  • Gain a firm understanding of how to run your business effectively
  • Learn the steps to securing bonding
  • Review the program application process and the components of a successful application
  • Receive assistance applying through the online portal

If a business is accepted into SBBRAP, it will participate in classes taught by subject matter experts focusing on several subject areas to enhance business practices, including but not limited to bonding, insurance, business development, financial presentation, personal credit, and business credit. Tuition grants will cover the cost of the training for those businesses selected to take part in the program. There will be no cost to participating small businesses.
