Success Stories
Â鶹´«Ã½ the Program
We prepare candidates with diagnostic techniques and strategies that address the many different types of literacy problems struggling readers and writers may have. Our graduate students learn strategies for working with all students, including special needs students and English language learners.
The Master of Arts degree leading to certification as a reading specialist is a Â鶹´«Ã½ credential, but is eligible for reciprocal certification in most states. Upon completing the program, candidates may apply for reciprocal certification through other states’ Boards of Education.
Certification-Only Option
If you already have a master’s degree and graduate credits in literacy education, you may qualify for certification-only coursework. The Â鶹´«Ã½ Department of Education must review transcripts to determine eligibility and identify any additional course requirements needed to qualify for certification.
