Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program Task Force brings together faculty, staff and student representatives who contribute to the University’s alcohol and substance abuse education and awareness efforts. While the task force aims to provide education on all facets of alcohol and substance use, our primary focus has been to target high-risk alcohol and drug use. This committee and its members meet regularly to discuss alcohol and substance abuse on campus, to evaluate and make recommendations concerning policy, and to plan outreach strategies.

In order to achieve its vision, ASAP Task Force members have identified the following goals:

  • Provide information to students, staff and faculty that fosters a healthy lifestyle.
  • Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and administrators regarding alcohol/drug issues.
  • Design and implement educational programs fostering healthy living and alcohol and other drug awareness in collaboration with other University departments.
  • Recommend changes to University policy regarding alcohol and substance abuse.
  • Assess student attitudes, beliefs and values regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs.
  • Measure the outcome of prevention programs and activities.
  • Create an atmosphere in which alcohol use is not the central focus of social events.

In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education’s Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Regulations, ASAP conducts the required Biennial Review of the program’s activities and accomplishments. Interested members of the NJCU community may view completed reports.
