Student Health Insurance
Important Notice Regarding Health Insurance
The Â鶹´«Ã½ law requiring students to present proof of medical insurance was modified and took effect in July 2013. The law provides Â鶹´«Ã½ college students with the freedom to choose their health insurance plan rather than having an institution of higher education mandate a specific policy and premium if they have no other coverage, either individually or through their parents.
Effective fall semester of 2022, NJCU will no longer provide a student health insurance plan through the College; however, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a federal law effective January 1, 2014, requires individuals to have health care insurance coverage or be subject to a penalty.
Individuals eligible to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan can enroll in a plan in the Marketplace. For information about the health care law, finding health insurance options, and accessing the health insurance marketplace offerings, please visit .
Students do not need to show proof of health insurance to attend NJCU.
